Jawn Murray is a Celebrity Journalist, Lifestyle Reporter and a Pop Culture Connoisseur.  Ebony magazine named him as one of the ‘30 On The Rise’ to watch in the industry and the NAACP recently recognized him as one of “40 Power Players Under 40.”

 

Currently, the Washington, DC-based talent offers his perspective on entertainment news and pop culture on the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show, reaching 10 million radio listeners in more than 110 markets.  He also pens the widely popular entertainment and lifestyle blog “BV Buzz” for AOL Black Voices, where more than 100 million unique visitors a month read his features.

 

On television, Jawn regularly appears as a subject matter expert on networks like HLN, CNN, MSNBC, TV Guide Channel, VH1, E!, BET, TV One and The Word Network; and has been featured on shows such as Access Hollywood, Our World with Black Enterprise, Good Day Live, Maury and America's Black Forum.  He’s also a frequent pop culture pundit on Washington, DC’s all-news ABC affiliate News Channel 8 during their mid-day series Let’s Talk Live.    

 

Jawn was the lead entertainment contributor on the Star Jones Show on Court TV (now known as TruTV).  He has also hosted red carpet specials for AOL’s digital network and BET’s broadband network, BET on Blast. 

 

In addition to his multimedia journalism endeavors, Jawn is a celebrity media coach and conducts artists development boot camps for recording artist and high profile personalities.  As a tastemaker and brand strategist, Jawn has become a go-to guy for Fortune 500 companies and marketing companies that seek his expertise for pop culture appeal. 

 

As a writer, Jawn’s work has been featured in a wide range of publications including the New York Daily News, OK!, Uptown, In Touch Weekly, Upscale and Gospel Today.  He’s also penned numerous cover stories for magazines like Savoy, Smooth, Jewel and Black Elegance. 

 

Jawn recently traveled with the BC Fusion College Tour, an interactive college tour about entertainment and finances done in partnership with Black Enterprise and It’s Showtime at the Apollo.  For three years, he also toured as a workshop clinician with Coca-Cola’s Summerscope, a national touring youth sports and entertainment camp for high school students.  

 

With more than a decade of experience under his belt, Jawn made a name for himself  writing the hugely successful “Jawn’s Juice” entertainment/lifestyle column for the newswire Electronic Urban Report (EUR). 

 

He was also an on-air entertainment news reporter for the nationally syndicated Doug Banks Morning Show, The Bo Griffin Morning Show and GreenStone Media’s Rolonda Watts Show syndicated afternoon radio show.

 

Jawn is also on the Board of Directors for the Gospel Complex for Education & Preservation in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
